This one might be hard to top...
A little while back, my wife and I drove to the store in her old black Jetta. We pulled up and she dropped me off. My job was simply to run in and pick up a couple of quick items for dinner. I had a simple list of 4 items: bag o' salad; loaf of french bread; random meat pick, and some type of beverage. Not too hard.
I grabbed the bag o' salad, and headed towards the bakery. I nabbed a loaf of french bread, then headed over to the meat section. Out of sheer laziness, I grabbed a package of the pre-cooked chicken, and then proceeded to the beverage isle. There, I grabbed a 2 liter of coke and proceeded to check out.
After paying at check out, I headed back to the car. On my way out of the store, I guy was there, who was asking for spare change. Now I admit, in my years I've become a bit jaded when it comes to folks asking for money, so I told him I didn't have any money.
He of course pointed out the fact that I had the money to buy groceries (ouch)! Now I admit, he had a decent point, but I also have a house payment and the like and I do my best to run off a budget. Unfortunately for him, I hadn't set aside money for annoying homeless people for this month. Now officially irritated, I shifted to my 'ignore the pushy guy' approach and briskly walked on to the car.
